Didn’t get a chance to go to Gen Con this year? That’s okay; I took enough pictures for the both of us. During the next few days I’ll post pictures and recaps of my experience. It will be just like you were there!
This initial post consists of pictures taken in the main Exhibition Hall, Event Hall, and a few other areas around the convention center. I take you straight to the action and into the crowd so you can see what it was like to be one of the 56,000+ people in attendance.
Future Gen Con 2014 posts will focus on different aspects of the convention, such as new games that were announced, the awesome booth displays, the game designers I met, cosplay, etc. (Click here to go to the next Gen Con post)
Notice the vertical numbers on the banners that hang from the ceiling. These made it real easy to find friends or a specific booth.
Plenty of demo tables for all your favorite games and of course, new games that have not yet been released.
Dr. Who games?
The amount of banners and other advertising material was staggering. Companies really go all out for this convention.
Games, games, and more games.
The set up, with large isles and trashcans every few rows, was well planned out and never felt over-crowded.
There was a lot to take in; it was almost an overwhelming amount of things to see and do.
Full board game demo tables. Most of the time one could walk right up and immediately get a demo or full play through of a game, but sometimes all tables were full. Thankfully, waiting for your turn never took very long.
This is a typical shot outside the main exhibition hall. While there is definitely a lot of people walking around, from 10 – 6 most people stay in the main exhibition hall.
The event hall was also pretty packed with all sorts of games being played throughout the day.
Event Hall: A Game of Thrones play area.
Event Hall: Dungeons and Dragons play area
The Pathfinder room was always packed.
The crowd waiting to get into the Exhibition Hall.
