Story:

It has been 100 years since a ruler has sat on the throne of Lirennor, one of the five kingdoms and once the most prosperous in all of Veles. Six Region Stones were lost to the one who seeks the power the throne offers, the old king’s brother, Saladar. Before the old queen fled for her life she did something that would change the course of history. She broke her medallion, the one item powerful enough to allow Saladar a chance to claim the throne, and sent the pieces across Veles. You now have one of those pieces and Saladar will stop at nothing to reclaim them. It is your duty to defeat Saladar, reclaim the lost Region Stones and restore power to the old kingdom. But you won’t be alone. There are others who seek this power. You will battle creatures of the dark, tackle quests, trap your opponents and conjure magic not seen in centuries. Are you up for the challenge? Do you have what it takes to rule these lands? Do you have what it takes to survive?

Map:

The map of Lirennor comprises ten, large, double-sided, hexagonal tiles that can be arranged however you see fit. Each one joins seamlessly allowing for a new game every time and with detailed and beautiful artwork you’ll feel as if you’re looking down on a real world. The map is entirely open allowing you to explore it however you wish. You’re only limited by your own imagination.

Mechanical Market:

By far the most unique feature of this game is the mechanical market within the lid. The designers knew that within a world of possibilities and multiple options there needed to be organisation and fluidity within gameplay. The market accomplishes this by introducing sleeves within the lid that market cards fit into. But it doesn’t stop there. On each side are leavers which allow the players to lock the cards away after gameplay so nothing will ever fall out. The cards stay within their own category removed and replaced as players buy and sell throughout gameplay.

Card Tray:

During gameplay no player wants tens of cards scattered on the table, fighting for some level of management. The designers of Dead Throne got around this by introducing the Card Tray. Each category of card has its own slot reducing each player’s game space to a near 12x24cm playing area. All your cards are visualized as a battle picture takes hold (at the time of writing, the card tray is a stretch goal on their Kickstarter).

The 4+ rule:

The foresight in organisation and fluidity doesn’t stop there. The folks at SharkeeGames Ltd. also incorporated a mechanic of their own making, the 4+ rule. We all know that when there are multiple players in the game, that players often end up waiting a while for others to finish their turn before they can play. Well the 4+ rule allows players to skip another person’s turn if that other player is in the market or within a battle. This way, two or more players can be battling it out whilst the other players play around them. Multiple battles can be happening at the same time, or players can join ongoing battles to allow for one large, epic, game-deciding battle between all players in the game.

Dead Throne is an awesome and deep fantasy world that comprises multiple environments and loads of items and weapons. To bring you a sense of the depth and to truly bring the game to life, the artwork is something the creators have spared no expense on. You can truly feel the game jumping out at you.

Everything about Dead Throne shouts adventure, fluidity and a massive world to explore making every game different from the last. We are sure that you’ll love playing this one-of-a-kind game. Don’t forget to check out their website at www.deadthrone.co.uk and have fun.
