Restless Entropy Games is back at it with another Kickstarter. Forging Legends, their last campaign, which was for a system agnostic character creation guide, was successful and has been fulfilled. Their new campaign is what they are calling a “Lore Book” for 5E, which covers specific details about the Vibrissae (a new playable species) and their island home of Hirsute. In addition to the new playable species, the book promises a new class, complete with two subclasses. Here is everything the prelaunch page says the new book will contain:
- New Playable Species: The Vibrissa
- New Class: Anagen Adept, complete with two subclasses
- New Feats – 8 new thematic Feats
- New Creatures – A Bestiary with (at least) 12 new creatures, complete with loot and harvestable items for each creature
- New Items – Some crafted from creatures, others must be bought, traded, or discovered through exploration
- Sample characters and NPCs
- New background (compatible with both the 2014 and 2024 ruleset)
- Natural resources of the island, including unique plants (and their uses), ore, and gems
- Plot hooks and plenty of lore
I am excited about the option to play a Rapunzel-like character in total control of my hair. There are a few comic book characters, like Marvel’s Medusa, that have long prehensile hair and they are typically formidable characters.
