I just checked out the Voodoo Queen: A Low-Country D&D 5E Horror Adventure Kickstarter and I’m genuinely excited about it.
Voodoo Queen immediately caught my attention because it’s a setting you rarely see in Dungeons & Dragons. Rooted in the eerie, atmospheric Low Country of the American South, this 5E adventure brings together folklore, mystery, and horror in a way that feels fresh and exciting. The swamps, small towns, and deep woods of this world seem to hum with secrets, and I can already imagine the tense moments around the table as players decide who to trust and how far they’re willing to go to uncover the truth.
Fans of Lovecraft Country will find a lot to love here. It has that same blend of creeping dread, rich cultural detail, and supernatural danger. This isn’t just “another spooky setting”, it’s one where the land and its history feel alive, and where the horror comes not only from monsters, but from the shadows of the past and the choices characters make in the present.
Everything about the concept promises immersive roleplay and memorable encounters. It’s the kind of setting where you can sink into the atmosphere, savor the storytelling, and really let the world breathe. I’m excited to see it come to life at the table.
From the creator:
Voodoo Queen is a Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition adventure designed for a party of characters from levels 4 to 8 and can be completed in 2-4 thrilling sessions, making it a perfect, self-contained story arc for any campaign. This adventure is crafted for groups who crave more than a simple monster hunt, plunging them into a story built on atmospheric horror and deep investigation. Players will experience the oppressive dread of the Southern Gothic-inspired Fenmarch, a land of oppressive humidity, sudden violence, and ancient secrets, as they gather clues and navigate complex social encounters to unravel the conspiracy at the heart of the plague. Ultimately, the party will be forced to confront a terrible dilemma where choosing the lesser of two evils might be the only path to saving the world.
