Zombicide Dead Men Tales

Zombicide: Dead Men Tales – There I Fixed It’s Name

Zombicide, a game of dice chucking and glorious zombie combat, has yet another stand alone expansion for its fantasy setting. The new edition, called Dead Men Tales, is a welcomed pirate-themed take on the classic medieval fantasy board game world.

I’ve been enjoying Zombicide for 10 years, with Black Plague, where the fantasy version all began, still being my favorite. And while I look forward to some of the updates this new crowdfunding campaign has in store for the game, such as having a max of 5 unique abilities instead of 4, I think they failed with the name.

I get that this is a pirate-themed version and they want to play on the Dead Men Tell No Tales angle, but Dead Men Tales is a huge failure of a name in my opinion. It’s too long for one, and doesn’t follow the naming convention of the other versions.

In order, the other Fantasy Zombicide games are:

Zombicide: Black Plague
Zombicide: Green Horde
Zombicide: White Death

So we have a clear pattern of color and thing. Sometimes change is good, but not in the case of Dead Men Tales.

I think they really missed an opportunity here. The name should be, and I will forever call it: Zombicide: Red Tide

Zombicide: Red Tide follows the naming logic of the other titles and also evokes a bloody picture of zombies and sea battles.

Clearly, the ball was dropped on the name, but I’m still a fan and look forward to the new content. You can check out the crowdfunding campaign for Zombicide: Red Tide here.
